Nordenstadt
HO Scale
Nordenstadt is a continental layout that is situated on the
Roseheim to Innsbruck main line next to the river Inn on
the German / Austrian border. This used to be a customs
post until the country barriers were relaxed due to the EU
de-regulation.
Freight traffic is high since the area was redeveloped with
a number of small distribution companies. There is a
working stone loading facility as the local quarry was
found to have a good quality hard stone suitable for
ballast and road building. also rail linked is a fuel terminus
and a concrete works. The lower main electrified lines are
fully signalled, with DB stock working down as far as
Innsbruck and OBB stock up as far as Nurnberg.
Continental in Design
Further development will include digital operation on the upper level
and and two more baseboards for a through station allowing scale
length trains and increasing the overall length to 6.5m (20 feet).
The layout is modelled in HO scale, with a certain degree of modellers
licence being used. Rolling stock consists of Roco, Liliput, Flieschmann
and Kato.
DB Electric Overhead Pick-up
German passenger train heading towards Innsbruck where there is
many places of interest including the local glass works where
customers can see glass blowing techniques and purchase many
different ornaments for display in your home.
German DMU
Being a border crossing means many trips between the two countries
is common especially now that the two countries are part of the EU.
